Bandits Abduct Five Female FUDMA Students

No fewer than five female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits in the wee hours of Wednesday.

A credible security source, who confirmed the abduction of the students in a telephone interview with THISDAY, said the students were kidnapped by the hoodlums at about 2:30 am Wednesday.

He explained that the victims were kidnapped by the unlawful forces in their residence located behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School along Tsaskiya road.

“Bandits attacked a residence of students behind Mariamoh Ajiri school in the early hours of today (Wednesday) and kidnapped five female students of Federal University Dutsin-Ma,” he said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the abduction of the students, adding that some suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He further explained that investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances behind the incident with a view to rescuing the abductees from the hoodlums.

He said: “It’s true. We have arrested some suspects in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.”
